Creative, themed yogi experience for self inquiry, growth & balance. Learn & explore a new aspect of self-care through a yoga sutra wisdom lens in each class. Purifying energy centres & building healthy habits with breath-work/ movement & sangha (community connection). Discovering somatic seasonal alignment & tuning into your authenticity. Oja Yoga believes in the concept that movement is medicine... not only for the body but the mind and soul too. Known by the ancient yogi's for centuries and backed by modern day science and health professionals in western medicine now. Thurs classes like to cruise in the slow lane, smoothing out and softening through the breath, synchronising it with asana. Like a moving meditation and internal massage making all our limbs feel lengthened, loosened and aligned. Enjoy finishing with a guided meditation and little blissful melt into the mat. Tues (temporarily closed this term) comprise of a balanced blend of yogalates, gentle yet powerful hatha, perhapse a sun salutation variation with complimentary breath-work. To complete we go into a deep grounding earthing closure to set you up for success. Saturdays have lots of breath work and are our signature stretch with vin-yin, somatic shakedown movement and yoga (asana), breath-work (pranayama/ kriyas), guided meditation (Dhyāna) with a touch of yoqi (yoga mixed with qigong) and mindful mantra. All levels are welcome and supported here! Mats and props are provided. We love to make you feel comfy and pampered here. This is the 'Upward Spiral' Class and catch up. This is an inclusive, community class to support those who are actively seeking or already cultivating a lifestyle that grows healthy habits. For anyone regulating mental health. Which is all of us! This is a humble, yet empowering model/ program to support you along the way. You may be sober curious or are in the maintenance stage of recovery finding ways to make sobriety more sustainable. You may be wanting to shift out of another kind of limiting behaviour that has been holding you back, like binge eating, binge watching series or toxic 'situationships' or negative self speak... Whatever your poison is (or was), this is a safe space to shake it all off, exhale it all out, move through it and connect with your true self as well as a collective of like minded people. The idea is to co-create an onward and upward spiral through a yogi and mental health lens. A bit of an alternative to an AA group, however not limited or exclusive to associating with being an alcoholic (or being anonymous). You are not alone. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it is connection. If you have been feeling isolated (or bored) in your quest for a healthier or happier life, this is exactly why this group has been formed. We are a JOMO group celebrating the 'Joy Of Missing Out' - together! As opposed to FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). We come together to inspire, encourage, empower and support ourselves and each-other.  After our themed yoga (following a yama or niyama of the sutras each session) and purposed breath-work and meditation; we have a guided (and uplifting) closing circle where you can share as much or as little as you like, with the option to stick around for tea and chats afterwards. Classes In a bit more depth

Let'g get loose and lit! The yoga way! There is a beautiful blend of all of the below throughout the carefully constructed classes. Intelligent sequencing at its finest

GENTLE HATHA  - Oja Yoga sequences are designed to connect the body, mind and breath into harmony and alignment. Hatha translates to force and persisting with effort. We stay true to the tradition yet in a more gentle fashion. Ha-tha = the sun and moon, opposites coming into balance. Here we aim to come into homeostasis and equilibrium.

VIN-YIN ASANA - Carefully curated, easy to follow, guided vinyasa flow in the slow lane... can be playful (yet always with purpose) at times... Tension reduction and nervous system deep reset and regulation... Mostly legnthening, loosening, opening and detoxifying poses... Unwind and feel sublime. 

SOMATIC SLOW FLOW - Tuning into and honouring our bodies inbuilt natural intelligence. Trauma informed safe space to release blockages or any thing stuck or stagnant. Supportive space to let go of what no longer serves you without talk therapy and through movement and breath.

YOQI - This is where yoga meets qi gong. In Indian/ Vedic philosophy we study the nadi's and in Chinese/ Taoist philosophy its the meridians. They both represent energy channels in our systems. Through intentional movement and breath we create, direct or level out 'prana' (or 'qi') meaning life energy. 

PRANAYAMA - The power of pranayama (breath control) revolutionises well being when used correctly and consciously. Breathing techniques provide a multitude of health benefits (to many too list here!) that is now becoming popularised in main stream health and wellness modalities and backed by not only by the sages but science too. In these classes we  synchronise our breathing with our movements to release tension, regulate the nervous system and level out cortisol, the stress hormone. We let our breath guide us through the movements to empower us to soften or go deeper into the shapes. We connect to the breath and connect to all pranic (life-force) energy. We use different techniques for different desired outcomes. We can cool and calm or heat and energise our systems depending on what practice we are doing. 

KRIYAS - In sanskrit this translates to 'yoga of action' and are known as Shatkarmas. They flush out toxicity and impurities from the body, cleansing it so it feels healthy and glowing internally. In these classes we  do a more refined version that are highly effective, like a fresh internal rinse for our vital organs increasing our ojas (vitality). Mild, mindful, meditative applications of these advanced yogi breath control methods typically guide us to a state of clarity, spaciousness and higher consciousness.

DHYANA - Increases focus, memory, confidence and clarity of thoughts over time with consistent practice. Delivered in the form of guided meditation in our sessions like a soothing brain bath and a heart hug.  Decrease the level of fatigue and brain fog. Finding stability in stillness. A little bit of bliss.

MANTRA - Sound vibration can be so healing! It is a small component of the classes, however can have profound impacts resonating on the soul space for a little bit of extra soul shine accessing the divine in you and all.
